Completely rebuilt from the ground up, the new Moulay El Hassan Stadium has emerged as one of Morocco’s flagship sports venues. Located in the Hay Nahda district at the heart of Rabat, the stadium is part of a nationwide initiative launched in 2024 to modernize the country’s sports infrastructure.
After being entirely demolished, the stadium reopened in 2025 with a fresh design and a seating capacity of 21,791. Every section has been carefully planned to meet specific needs: 20,367 seats for the general public, 192 for VVIPs, 542 for VIPs, 275 for hospitality guests, 258 for media personnel, and 68 for people with reduced mobility. Additional areas are dedicated to officials and broadcasting teams to ensure smooth operations during major events.
The stadium’s most striking visual element is its glass façade, which brings a sleek, contemporary feel to the surrounding neighborhood and visually connects the venue with the city around it. Spanning over 68,000 square meters, the stadium is equipped with a hybrid grass pitch built to meet international standards. Inside, fans and officials benefit from dynamic displays thanks to three LED rings and two massive screens used for live updates and multimedia content.
State-of-the-art LED lighting systems have replaced the older installations, and security has been brought up to modern standards with a network of 456 surveillance cameras covering the entire facility.
The stadium also includes four locker rooms, a fully equipped medical unit with an infirmary, a 112-seat press conference room, and two training areas. Dedicated parking zones for VVIPs and officials are located just steps from the venue for easy access.
Chosen as one of the host sites for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Moulay El Hassan Stadium joins Rabat’s other key venues, such as Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium and the Rabat Olympic Stadium. Its selection reflects not only its compliance with the technical and hospitality standards set by the Confederation of African Football but also its transformation into a venue ready for high-stakes international matches.
Beyond its modern features, the architectural project embraces Moroccan heritage through its use of traditional materials and cultural inspiration. The result is a world-class facility that looks to the future while honoring its roots.
