Deloitte Maroc has appointed Nadia Kawtar Alaoui as a Partner to lead its Legal department. Alaoui has more than 20 years of experience in corporate legal work. She will advise companies, family groups, institutions and investors on business law, with a focus on corporate law. Her work will cover mergers and acquisitions, investments, corporate governance and group restructuring. She will also help clients with their legal and corporate needs as they expand and reorganise their businesses.
The appointment strengthens Deloitte Maroc’s legal services and adds legal expertise to its wider audit, tax and advisory services. It also supports the firm’s plans to build a legal offering that is closely linked to the local business environment and its wider work across Francophone Africa.
Ambroise Depouilly is Managing Partner of Deloitte Francophone Africa. He leads the firm’s regional operations and its efforts to bring different areas of expertise together for business clients.
Alaoui graduated from HEC Montréal and has been a member of the Paris Bar since 2004. She combines training in law and management.
She worked as a business law lawyer for 11 years before moving into corporate positions. Her previous roles include Legal Director at Al Mada and Azura.
Her experience includes working with major corporate and investment groups and advising on complex legal and business matters.
Alaoui said her goal at Deloitte is to work with its different teams and strengthen its presence across Francophone Africa.
“I have for objective to participate in the dynamic of Deloitte by relying on synergies between different expertises and by reinforcing our presence in Francophone Africa,” she said.
The appointment comes as professional services firms in Morocco strengthen their legal and financial teams to serve companies involved in investment, restructuring and cross-border business.
Deloitte competes in this market with other major professional services firms, including PwC, EY and KPMG, as well as international and local law firms.
Corporate legal expertise is important for businesses dealing with investments, joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions and large industrial projects.
Deloitte said Alaoui’s appointment will help the firm serve companies, family-owned groups, institutions and investors through a wider range of integrated services.
