A new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) filling plant near Agadir is almost ready to begin operations after construction reached 98%. The project is now waiting for final administrative approvals before it can open. The 300 million dirham facility covers 15 hectares and can fill up to 100,000 tonnes of LPG every year. TotalEnergies Marketing Maroc, Vivo Energy Maroc and Groupe Access developed the project together.
The plant sits about 70 kilometres from Agadir’s port area and will become the second LPG filling platform in southern Morocco. It is expected to improve gas supplies and increase filling capacity in the Souss-Massa and Guelmim Oued Noun regions, where demand for energy is growing.
The site includes a filling hall, storage areas, truck loading bays, maintenance workshops and office buildings.
The plant can store up to 2,000 cubic metres of LPG in five tanks, each holding 400 cubic metres. That gives it enough capacity to keep nearly 1,000 tonnes of LPG on site, providing about three and a half days of supply. The storage level is higher than the country’s minimum regulatory requirement.
Its location near the Anza LPG terminal is also expected to make deliveries easier and help keep supplies stable.
The project will create 150 permanent jobs and around 100 indirect jobs in logistics, maintenance and security. More than 200 people worked on the site during construction.
The new plant is also expected to cut transport distances for LPG deliveries, helping reduce road traffic risks and carbon dioxide emissions linked to fuel transport.
