Construction has officially begun on the new logistics hub in Oulad Saleh, just south of Casablanca. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Tuesday, July 22, led by Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh. Local and regional officials attended the event, including Casablanca-Settat regional governor Mohamed Mhidiâ, Nouaceur governor Jalal Benhayoun, regional council president Abdellatif Mazouz, and Ghassane El Machrafi, head of the Moroccan Agency for Logistics Development.
This project, spearheaded by the national logistics agency in collaboration with the Casablanca-Settat region, marks a significant milestone in Morocco’s broader push to boost logistics competitiveness. It’s a direct response to the region’s ongoing shortage of dedicated logistics real estate.
Plans call for the development of half a million square meters of land by 2026, supported by a public investment of 550 million dirhams. Large plots—some as big as six hectares—will be made available in an effort to attract around 2 billion dirhams in private-sector investment. The project is also expected to generate over 1,500 direct jobs once operational.
Strategically located at the southern end of the key logistics corridor stretching from Zenata to Nouaceur, the Oulad Saleh zone represents the first stage of a much broader initiative. Eventually, the corridor will include a fully integrated industrial and logistics zone in Zenata, which is also slated to offer another 500,000 square meters of logistics land.
