A new initiative has just taken root in Nouaceur with the launch of the Nouaceur Territorial Innovation Lab—known as NOTIL. Created through a partnership between the Casablanca-Settat City of Trades and Skills (CMC-CS) and the OTED organization, the project is designed to boost local development by harnessing the power of collective intelligence.
NOTIL is built on a participatory model that brings together a wide range of contributors—from business leaders and civic organizations to local authorities, trainees, and educators. Its mission is clear: to design, test, and refine practical responses to the unique social, economic, and environmental challenges each community faces.
The initiative is guided by four central principles. First, it seeks to unite the region’s key players around shared projects. Second, it places participation at the core of both the planning and execution stages. Third, it encourages on-the-ground experimentation to better understand the real-world impact of proposed ideas. Finally, it emphasizes sustainability, aiming for lasting results that directly benefit local residents.
The model is structured to deliver value across the board. For businesses, NOTIL offers a space to innovate and sharpen their competitive edge, with the added benefit of contributing through skills-based volunteering. Local governments can lean on the lab to push forward stalled initiatives and improve their decision-making processes. Trainees at the CMC-CS gain real-world exposure by participating in applied projects that complement their studies. And for everyday citizens, it’s a rare opportunity to have a direct hand in shaping the solutions that affect their daily lives.
NOTIL reflects a broader vision championed by the CMC-CS—one that goes far beyond conventional vocational training. The institution is positioning itself as a cornerstone of regional development. With nine training hubs, over a hundred specializations, an incubator, a FabLab, a digital production studio, collaborative workspaces, and programs focused on soft skills and career guidance, CMC-CS is firmly committed to action-oriented learning and innovation.
Meanwhile, OTED acts as an enabler. This collective of experts works to amplify the capabilities of local actors by offering hands-on tools, tailored guidance, and a collaborative methodology. Their goal is to empower communities to craft their own high-impact solutions from the ground up.
With its doors now open, NOTIL is calling on companies, nonprofits, specialists, and citizens alike to join the movement. It’s an open invitation to co-create the future—together.
