ONCF has launched two new contracts worth nearly MAD 189m for the Kenitra-Marrakech high-speed rail line as work continues on the MAD 96bn project due to open in November 2029 before the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The new tenders come a year after construction started in April 2025 at Rabat-Agdal station.
Most of the money, MAD 180m, will pay for elevators and escalators at stations and maintenance centres. The equipment will be supplied, installed, tested and put into service for passengers and railway staff.
The contract is split into four lots. The first, worth MAD 46m, covers Grand Stade Hassan II station and Casablanca Airport station. The second, worth MAD 44m, covers CasaSud station and Marrakech Gueliz station. The third, valued at MAD 36m, includes stations in the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra and Marrakech regions, as well as maintenance centres. The fourth, worth MAD 54m, covers stations across the Casablanca region.
Companies have until 3 September to submit bids.
ONCF has also launched a separate MAD 9m contract, excluding tax, to oversee construction work. The contract is divided into two lots worth MAD 4.5m each.
One lot covers the new Casablanca Airport terminal, Marrakech Gueliz station and Benguerir Green City station. The other covers maintenance centres in Marrakech, Nouaceur and Fes.
The successful contractor will help manage the project, coordinate construction, monitor contracts and make sure work stays on schedule and meets technical standards. The contract will last 30 months until the works are completed and provisionally accepted.
The Kenitra-Marrakech line is the biggest rail infrastructure project launched in the Kingdom in the past decade. The line will extend the Al Boraq high-speed network south to Marrakech.
The full project is backed by an investment of MAD 96bn. ONCF has already awarded contracts worth MAD 500m for civil engineering structures, MAD 300m for track works and MAD 104m for electrical connections.
The railway is expected to begin operating in November 2029, in time to support transport during the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will host with Spain and Portugal.
