Morocco is moving to upgrade its internet and digital systems with a new partnership between the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) and telecom operator inwi.
The two organisations have signed an agreement to expand the country’s fibre optic network and improve digital infrastructure. The plan is to build a stronger national network by sharing existing infrastructure and working together on new development across different regions.
They say the goal is to make telecom services more efficient and easier to manage while also expanding coverage. The partnership will also look at new areas such as digital services, cybersecurity, smarter networks and better data management.
Both sides say the project is not only about technology but also about strengthening Morocco’s position in the global digital space. It is linked to wider ambitions for the country’s competitiveness as it looks ahead to 2030.
Reliability is another focus. The agreement includes plans to improve network stability, reduce disruptions and make sure services keep running even when there are technical issues.
