Orange Morocco has launched RDV Tech by Orange, a new series of events focused on technology and Morocco’s move towards a digital economy.
The first event looked at how internet networks and modern technology can help the country grow its economy and modernise services by 2030. Orange said the aim is to make big tech changes easier to understand for businesses, public bodies and the wider public, while supporting innovation and equal access to digital tools.
The programme focuses on five main areas: better regional internet connections, cloud services and data centres, cybersecurity, online collaboration tools, and the use of data, AI and connected devices to improve productivity.
Orange Morocco said it has invested more than 100bn dirhams over the past 25 years. Projects include the Orange Tech data centre, designed to be secure and energy efficient, the rollout of 5G and the Medusa undersea cable in Nador, which will strengthen Morocco’s role as a digital link between Europe and Africa.
For businesses, Orange offers secure services such as the Live Intelligence AI platform and multi-cloud solutions through partnerships with AWS and Microsoft.
The company also highlighted its training work through the Orange Digital Center. The programme has trained more than 20,000 people, supported 300 startups and helped 1,200 young people find jobs.
The events come as Morocco pushes its Digital Morocco 2030 plan to expand online public services, grow the digital economy and create 100,000 digital jobs by the end of the decade.
