Orange Morocco has hosted a business and technology forum focused on how digital tools could help modernise Morocco’s healthcare system, as demand grows for more efficient and secure medical services.

The event, the second in the company’s “Afterworks” series, was held in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and brought together healthcare leaders, policymakers and technology specialists.

Discussions centred on cloud computing, cybersecurity, data management and the move away from paper-based medical records.

Morocco’s healthcare sector is facing increasing pressure to improve governance, upgrade infrastructure and cope with growing numbers of patients.

At the forum, speakers said technologies such as cloud services, artificial intelligence and secure connectivity are becoming essential to managing these challenges, particularly as hospitals handle larger volumes of sensitive patient data.

Orange Morocco and AWS presented examples of how digital platforms can support electronic medical records, telemedicine and faster processing of medical imaging.

A major focus of the discussions was data security, especially the need to keep sensitive health information within national borders.

Orange Morocco said it is working with AWS to deploy “AWS Wavelength” services inside its own data centre. The technology allows data to be processed closer to where it is generated, reducing delays for applications such as medical imaging and real-time patient monitoring.

The company said the approach is designed to meet Morocco’s data protection regulations while offering advanced cloud performance.

Speaking at the event, Mohamed Bennis, Director of B2B at Orange Morocco, said the company aims to support digital transformation in key sectors of the economy.

He said Orange Morocco is focusing on integrated solutions that combine connectivity, secure cloud services, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence to help healthcare providers adapt to technological change.

The healthcare forum follows an earlier event focused on the financial sector. Orange Morocco said similar meetings will take place throughout the year, each targeting a different industry.

The company says the aim is to create practical platforms for dialogue between businesses, institutions and technology providers.

Orange Morocco is a telecommunications operator offering mobile and fixed-line services, cybersecurity and mobile payment solutions. Founded in 1999, it serves about 18.8 million customers and operates more than 420 sales outlets across the country. The company also runs digital education and inclusion programmes, particularly for young people and women.
