More than 1,000 people from over 50 countries have gathered in Rabat for a major conference about how countries can grow in an uncertain world.
The Global Growth Conference 2026 opened on Wednesday and will run for two days. It is organised by the Amadeus Institute and focuses on the theme “Structuring growth: Turning uncertainty into opportunity”.
Several senior officials attended the opening session. These included Morocco’s Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour, Dominica’s Foreign Minister Vince Henderson, CDG chief Khalid Safir, CGEM president Mehdi Tazi, Rabat Salé Kénitra Chamber of Commerce president Hassan Sakhi and Amadeus Institute president Brahim Fassi Fihri.
Organisers say uncertainty is now a long-term reality for the global economy. They say growth can no longer depend on easy access to finance, open markets or smooth global trade.
This year’s event builds on the 2025 conference, which produced the Rabat Roadmap on financing growth and the energy transition. The 2026 edition aims to move beyond funding and look at the wider foundations of growth. These include economic sovereignty, investment, infrastructure, energy, innovation and stronger links across Africa.
The conference also highlights Morocco’s goal of becoming a trusted economic hub connecting Africa, Europe, the Atlantic world and the Global South.
In total, more than 100 high-level speakers are taking part. Participants include ministers, financial institutions, sovereign wealth funds, private investors and international experts.
The discussions are organised around five main topics. These are economic sovereignty and new global rules, moving from finance to investment platforms, reindustrialisation and value chains, energy and strategic resources, and Morocco’s role as a trusted hub for investment and growth.
