Paraguay has officially announced the upcoming opening of a consulate general in southern Morocco, a move that underscores its full recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over its Sahara. The decision was made public following a meeting in Rabat between Morocco’s Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, and his Paraguayan counterpart, Rubén Ramírez Lezcano.
During their talks, the Paraguayan foreign minister reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and expressed strong backing for the autonomy plan proposed by the Kingdom in 2007. According to Lezcano, this plan represents the only serious, credible, and pragmatic foundation for a lasting resolution to the regional dispute.
The establishment of this new diplomatic mission marks a decisive step forward in the deepening relationship between the two nations.
