Producer prices in the manufacturing sector—excluding petroleum refining—edged down slightly in July, posting a 0.1% decrease, according to new figures released by the High Commission for Planning.

The dip was largely driven by falling prices in key areas of manufacturing. Food production saw the sharpest drop, with prices slipping 0.4%. Apparel manufacturing also saw a modest decline of 0.2%, while the rubber and plastic products segment dropped by 0.3%.

However, not all sectors followed the same trend. Some industries recorded minor price increases. Electrical equipment manufacturing and fabricated metal products each saw a 0.1% uptick, while non-metallic mineral products rose by 0.3%.

As for the extractive industries, prices crept up by 0.1% during the month. Meanwhile, prices in electricity and water production and distribution remained unchanged, showing no significant movement for the period.
