Morocco’s Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region is accelerating its industrial transformation. The regional development agency Rabat Région Émergence (RRE) has announced the creation of a new Economic Activity Zone (EAZ) in the commune of Ameur, Salé Prefecture. Covering an area of approximately 10 hectares, the project aims to meet the growing demand for industrial land and strengthen the local economic fabric.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy to attract investors by offering modern, modular infrastructure tailored to the needs of light industries, logistics, and warehousing. A design competition has been launched to select an architectural firm for the conception and supervision of the project. The estimated budget stands at MAD 180 million (excluding taxes), underscoring the scale and ambition behind the initiative.
At the same time, RRE has initiated a separate tender for urban planning and architectural studies for the development of a dedicated industrial zone—also located in Ameur. This project is designed to respond to increased demand from major players such as Stellantis suppliers, who are ramping up activity in line with the expanding capacity of the Kénitra manufacturing platform.
This new development also aims to complement and support the growth of the Bouknadel industrial hub, particularly the Sidi Bouknadel industrial area (ZAI), which spans 29 hectares and already boasts a 70% occupancy rate. To date, it has created nearly 5,000 jobs, with projections reaching 11,000 by 2026.
The projected budget for the construction and development of the new industrial zone is capped at MAD 29 million (excluding taxes).
These forward-looking projects reflect the region’s strategic commitment: positioning Rabat-Salé-Kénitra as a dynamic, investment-friendly industrial hub for the future.
