On Friday, July 19, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Ryad Mezzour, accompanied by several officials, made an official visit to Riva Industries’ industrial unit located in the Jorf Lasfar Med-Z industrial park in El Jadida.
Owned by Moroccan capital, Riva Industries has developed an integrated industrial complex dedicated to the production of a variety of metallurgical products. These include rebar, wire rods, large-diameter coils, steel ingots, special steels, and other products.
This industrial complex, which required an investment of approximately 2.9 billion dirhams, offers significant employment opportunities for the region, creating 3,000 jobs, including 1,100 direct and stable positions. Covering a total area of 75 hectares, this project opens promising prospects to meet the growing needs of the national market as well as international markets in Europe and Africa for high-quality, value-added rebar products.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the steel industry for the national economy, Mr. Ryad Mezzour praised the realization of this ambitious project, which has been supported by the State through several investment agreements. “This project will strengthen national production capacity and diversify products with high local integration,” he said. He added, “The project aligns perfectly with the High Royal Guidelines aimed at enhancing the Kingdom’s industrial sovereignty by reducing imports and promoting exports.”
The project also includes auxiliary units using advanced technologies specializing in the sorting and preparation of ferrous waste, water and smoke treatment and recycling, as well as electricity transformation through clean stations, and the production of gases and essential materials for the operation of the industrial complex.
On this occasion, the Minister awarded Riva Industries the certificate of compliance with Moroccan standards related to wire rods. The certification process was conducted by IMANOR under Law 12-06 on standardization, certification, and accreditation. The Moroccan standard used as a reference for this certification and the associated conformity assessment procedures are equivalent to international standards and practices in the field.
