Travelling between Morocco and California just got easier. Royal Air Maroc has launched a new direct route linking Casablanca and Los Angeles, giving passengers a non-stop connection between Morocco and the US West Coast for the first time.
The airline’s first flight on the route took off from Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport and landed at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Royal Air Maroc will operate the service three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
Flights leave Casablanca at 04:00 and arrive in Los Angeles at 08:20 local time after a journey of about 12 hours. Return flights depart Los Angeles at 10:20 and land in Casablanca at 05:25 the next day.
The airline said the schedule was designed to make it easier for passengers to connect through Casablanca to destinations across Africa.
Royal Air Maroc Chief Executive Hamid Addou said the launch comes as Morocco and the United States mark 250 years of diplomatic relations.
The new route is also expected to help meet travel demand during major sporting events in North America, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The service is part of Royal Air Maroc’s long-term growth plan agreed with the Moroccan government in 2023.
Under the plan, the airline aims to expand its fleet to 200 aircraft and serve 143 destinations by 2037.
Royal Air Maroc believes the route will attract several types of travellers, including members of the Moroccan and African diaspora in California, tourists, business travellers and passengers connecting to other destinations through Casablanca.
Los Angeles becomes Royal Air Maroc’s sixth destination in North America, joining New York, Washington, Miami, Montreal and Toronto.
