Royal Air Maroc adds new London stansted route to boost UK-Africa travel

Royal Air Maroc is expanding its presence in the UK with a brand-new nonstop route linking Casablanca to London Stansted Airport. This is the airline’s first time flying to Stansted, which lies northeast of central London, and marks a strategic step in broadening its reach in the British market.

The new route, serviced by a Boeing 737-800, operates three times a week and gets passengers from Stansted to Casablanca in just over three hours. The morning departure schedule is designed to provide not only direct access to Morocco’s economic capital but also smooth onward connections to Royal Air Maroc’s wider African network—especially destinations across West Africa.

With this addition, the Moroccan national carrier now serves four UK airports: Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, and now Stansted. By tapping into a different area of Greater London, the airline is aiming to meet the growing demand for seamless travel between Europe and North Africa.

Ciaran Brannigan, Commercial Director at London Stansted, welcomed the move as a major development: “Casablanca is a key destination, and Royal Air Maroc has made a very strong choice. This route will give passengers more flexibility for trips to Africa, whether they’re traveling for business, leisure, or as a stopover.”

On the airline’s side, Zoubida Smahi, UK General Manager for Royal Air Maroc, highlighted the broader mission behind the expansion: “This new service reflects our ongoing commitment to strengthening ties between Morocco and both the Moroccan diaspora and international travelers. Casablanca remains a critical entry point to the continent.”

With the launch of this new connection, Royal Air Maroc is continuing to position Casablanca as a vital hub between Europe and Africa, reinforcing its status as a key gateway for intercontinental travel.
