Royal Air Maroc continues flight cancellations amid Middle East airspace closures

Royal Air Maroc says it is continuing to cancel some flights because several countries in the region have closed their airspace after a sharp rise in military tensions.

In a message on X, the airline said it is closely tracking the situation and updating passengers. It stressed that safety remains its top priority.

The airline is offering flexible options to affected customers, including free rebooking. Passengers can contact the call centre or visit their original ticket office. They are also being asked to check their flight status online before heading to the airport and to update their contact details through the booking system.

The disruption follows airspace closures in Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain, following military developments in the region.

The escalation began on Saturday 28 February 2026, when the United States Armed Forces and the Israel Defense Forces carried out coordinated strikes inside Iran. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks, prompting many countries to restrict or shut their airspace as a precaution.

The crisis has led to thousands of flight cancellations worldwide. Airlines have been forced to reroute planes, often taking longer paths, which has increased costs and travel times.

For Royal Air Maroc, the main impact has been on flights from Casablanca to Doha and Dubai. Services linked to Hamad International Airport and Dubai International Airport have been repeatedly suspended.

Some airports in the United Arab Emirates have started limited operations, but most regular commercial flights remain grounded for now.

The airline is urging passengers to wait for official confirmation before travelling and not to go to the airport unless they receive a clear message confirming their flight or a new booking.
