Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is set to launch a new direct flight between Casablanca and Toronto, marking a significant step in strengthening connections between Africa and Canada. Representatives from various Canadian associations and professional bodies emphasized the importance of this route during a ceremony held in Toronto, highlighting its potential to deepen cooperation between the two regions.

Scheduled for its inaugural flight on December 8, the new Casablanca-Toronto line confirms Morocco’s strategic role in connecting Africa with Canada and North America. This was echoed by participants at the event, organized by RAM, where the new route was celebrated as a symbol of Morocco’s growing influence as a hub for international travel.

Morocco’s ambassador to Canada, Souriya Otmani, praised the new flight as a game-changer for businesspeople, academics, artists, and citizens on both sides of the Atlantic. She noted that this milestone reflects the strengthening of ties not only between Morocco and Canada but also with several Arab, African, and European countries. The flight opens new doors for cooperation and regional and international exchanges.

“This is an important moment in the relationship between Morocco and Canada,” stated Otmani, highlighting Casablanca’s strategic role as a key hub for RAM, positioning Morocco as a central bridge between continents.

The Casablanca-Toronto route, which will operate three times a week, is part of RAM’s broader efforts to expand its international network. Nour-Eddine Ezzairi, RAM’s regional representative in Canada, explained that this new route underscores the airline’s ambition to enhance its global reach while providing new opportunities in economic, academic, and cultural exchanges.

As Africa’s leading regional airline, RAM connects the continent to the rest of the world via its Casablanca hub, offering more than 90 destinations. The new Toronto route will also further strengthen the airline’s presence in North America, where it already offers direct flights to Montreal, New York, Washington, Miami, and Sao Paulo.

During the ceremony, other speakers such as Samuel Asare, president of the Ghana Association in Ontario, and Margaret Nwosu, president of the Nigerian-Canadian Association, hailed the initiative. They emphasized the positive impact the new route will have in connecting African communities in Toronto with the African continent.

The event, attended by travel agents, tour operators, and representatives of African communities, also featured a promotional film showcasing Morocco’s rich tourism assets.

With the addition of the Casablanca-Toronto service, RAM will offer its second direct route to Canada, further expanding its presence in the Americas. This complements the airline’s existing routes to Montreal, and other North American cities, solidifying Morocco’s role as a vital connector in global travel.
