Ryanair is joining forces with Morocco to put Ouarzazate on the map as a must-visit spot for tourists and filmmakers. A big international film crew spent two days, March 18-19, shooting across different spots in the Ouarzazate area. The project is run by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) with help from Ryanair, according to SNRT News.
The film shows off the area’s biggest attractions, like the UNESCO-listed Aït Benhaddou, which you might know from Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. Other places featured include Taourirt Kasbah, Atlas Studios, and the Fint Oasis.
The idea is to get more people around the world interested in visiting by showing Ouarzazate’s culture, landscapes, and film industry.
Right now, Ouarzazate has 174 hotels with over 3,100 rooms, and more than 70% are four- or five-star, according to the local tourism council. There’s ongoing investment too – around MAD 360 million ($38m) is being spent on renovating hotels, and MAD 171 million ($18.3m) is going into new projects. More upgrades are planned to make room for even more visitors.
This campaign is part of ONMT’s “Shining Ouarzazate” program, which started in 2025 to make the city more well-known internationally.
Ryanair already runs over 170 international routes to Morocco, with more than 1,100 flights a week and 11 domestic routes. They’re aiming to carry over 10 million passengers in Morocco by 2027.
