A new aircraft engine factory is coming to Casablanca, bringing jobs and fresh investment to Morocco’s growing aerospace industry. MEDZ has signed a deal with SAEAM, a unit of Safran Aircraft Engines, to buy industrial land in the MidParc zone in Nouaceur. The land will be used to build a plant that assembles CFM LEAP-1A aircraft engines.
The project is worth about €200m, or around 2.2bn Moroccan dirhams. Once running, the factory is expected to assemble up to 350 engines each year and create 300 direct jobs.
MEDZ says the project shows Morocco is becoming an attractive place for high-value industry and confirms MidParc as a key hub for aerospace and high-tech companies.
MEDZ is part of CDG Développement and focuses on building and managing industrial zones across the country. It helps turn empty land into ready-to-use business parks and supports foreign companies with permits and local paperwork.
The company manages more than 2,600 hectares of industrial land, including MidParc near Casablanca, the Atlantic Free Zone in Kenitra, Technopolis in Rabat, Agropolis in Meknes and Haliopolis in Agadir.
MEDZ says these industrial zones have helped Morocco attract billions in foreign investment and create more than 110,000 jobs, with new projects now designed to be more environmentally friendly.
