Spain’s Alsa Group is moving to cement its footprint in Morocco by acquiring full ownership of the public bus operator serving the Rabat-Salé-Témara region. The country’s Competition Council has officially received notice of the planned takeover, which would see Alsa Grupo SLU increase its stake in Alsa City Bus Rabat-Salé-Témara SA by an additional 49 percent—shifting the company’s governance from joint control to full ownership.

Once the deal is finalized, Alsa will hold 100 percent of the Moroccan company’s capital and voting rights, granting the Spanish transport giant total control over the operations. This strategic acquisition will allow Alsa to fully consolidate its business in the country and manage public bus services independently across the greater Rabat metropolitan area.

A leading player in European passenger transport, Alsa Grupo SLU operates under Spanish law and specializes in urban mobility solutions. The company has been active in Morocco for years, and this latest move signals a deeper commitment to the region, particularly the capital and its surrounding cities.

Alsa City Bus Rabat-Salé-Témara SA, currently run as a Moroccan joint-stock company, oversees the operation and management of bus routes in the tri-city area. The region represents a key market in the national push toward more sustainable urban transport systems.
