Talisman Metals has found high-grade copper at its Tirzzit project in southern Morocco, with samples returning up to 2.62% copper and 44.47 parts per million of silver. The samples were taken from exposed rock at the site. They also extended the known mineralised zone by 70 metres, bringing its confirmed strike length to 300 metres.

Six of the seven samples tested had copper grades above the company’s internal target level.

The results will help Talisman prepare for a planned drilling programme. The company plans to test a mineralised area that stretches for at least 4km.

One of the main drilling targets is a newly identified rock outcrop at Tirzzit. It is about 500 metres from known mineralisation further south.

Talisman chief executive Tim McCutcheon said the mineralisation appears to continue across several kilometres, which supports further exploration in the area.

Tirzzit project

Tirzzit is in Taroudant province, about 25km south of the Zgounder Silver Mine and 85km east of the Tizert copper-silver deposit.

The project covers two adjacent exploitation licences. It targets a sediment-hosted copper-silver deposit in the Neoproterozoic Adoudou Formation.

Previous work at the site includes 4,978 metres of drilling across 35 holes, as well as 1,679 metres of underground adits and sampling.

Historical drilling found 3.16% copper over 2.5 metres at a downhole depth of 224 metres.

Another intersection returned 2.08% copper and 36 grams per tonne of silver over 2.25 metres.

Modern exploration between 2019 and 2025 included SkyTEM, VLF and airborne magnetic surveys. Talisman also used ASTER satellite data, stream sediment sampling and surface channel sampling.

Other projects

Talisman also has the Tizert Group of Projects, which includes five research permits across three areas: Tizert North, Fougnar and Tizert South.

Fougnar has an 8km strike length of the targeted Basal Series geological unit.

The Argana project has five research permits. The company is looking for red-bed copper systems there.

Historical surface workings at Argana have produced local grades averaging about 3.32% copper and 50 grams per tonne of silver.

Talisman Metals is listed on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market under the ticker TLM.

The company was previously called Ovoca Bio PLC. It changed its name to Talisman Metals PLC in February 2026 after moving away from its former biopharmaceutical business and focusing on energy-transition metals.

Timothy McCutcheon is chief executive, Leah O’Donovan is chief financial officer and Fabien Linares is head geologist.

The company’s main focus is finding and developing sediment-hosted copper-silver deposits across the Atlas Mountains.

The latest results come as copper demand continues to grow because of electricity networks, renewable energy and data centres.

Further drilling at Tirzzit will be needed to establish how large the copper system is and whether it can support a future mineral resource.
