More than 8,000 people from over 130 countries will gather in Tangier this November for the 18th edition of the MEDays Forum, organisers have announced. The event will run from 25 to 28 November at the Palace of Arts and Culture under the theme “Fragmented World: The Time for Choices.” It is organised by the Amadeus Institute and the MEDays Forum Foundation under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI.

More than 300 speakers are expected to take part in 65 sessions and roundtable discussions. They will include heads of state and government, ministers, Nobel Prize winners, leaders of international organisations, business executives and policy experts.

Organisers say this year’s forum comes as countries face growing geopolitical tensions, changing alliances and increasing competition over trade, energy, technology and strategic resources.

The discussions will focus on issues including national sovereignty, security, leadership, industrialisation, energy, artificial intelligence, global supply chains and cooperation between African countries and other nations in the Global South.

The opening day will feature the MEDays Investment Summit, which focuses on investment, public-private partnerships and financing projects in African and emerging economies.

MEDays was launched in 2008 and has grown into one of Africa’s biggest international policy forums. Organisers say it gives leaders from the Global South a platform to discuss global challenges and present their priorities alongside international partners.

They also say this year’s edition will look at how African countries can strengthen their decision-making, protect their strategic interests and play a bigger role in shaping the future global order.
