Tangier’s Waterfront Gets a Luxury Boost with New Bristol Hotel Project

A major new hotel project is underway on the Tangier waterfront, signaling another bold step in the city’s ongoing transformation. Eagle Hills, a prominent real estate development group, has officially broken ground on The Bristol Hotels & Resorts Tangier, a luxury property set to open its doors in 2027.

Situated directly along Tangier Bay, just minutes from the historic medina and kasbah, the five-star hotel is being designed as both a nod to the city’s rich heritage and a contemporary statement. Its architecture blends traditional Moroccan influences with modern aesthetics—think intricate zellige-tiled façades, an interior courtyard inspired by Arab-Andalusian design, and expansive terraces that open onto sweeping sea views. Once completed, the hotel will offer 218 rooms and suites tailored to international guests while remaining deeply rooted in Tangier’s cultural identity.

The hotel aims to deliver a full upscale experience. Guests can expect a rooftop pool, a state-of-the-art wellness and fitness center, a luxury spa, and an impressive culinary offering that includes a fine dining restaurant and a more locally inspired eatery. There will also be a sizable events space capable of hosting up to 1,500 guests, making it a potential hub for both business gatherings and large-scale celebrations. A curated retail area will round out the complex.

The project is a key component of the broader Tanja Waterfront redevelopment plan, a sweeping initiative that includes residential units, retail areas, entertainment venues, and hospitality infrastructure along Tangier’s coastline. Eagle Hills says this new investment is aimed at boosting the local economy—not just by attracting high-end tourism, but also by creating jobs and drawing attention to Tangier’s rising profile on the international stage.

Construction has been awarded to Sogea Maroc, a major player in Morocco’s building sector. The Tangier location will mark the second hotel under The Bristol banner, following the brand’s debut in Belgrade, Serbia, where it launched in a restored heritage building.
