Fifty years after her passing, the voice of Oum Kalthoum still echoes with undiminished power through the hearts of generations. This enduring legend of Arabic music is being honored in a spectacular new concert tour titled “Kalthoumiate,” an ambitious musical journey set to sweep across Morocco in May 2025. The tour will include four unforgettable performances in Rabat, Tangier, Casablanca, and Marrakech—each designed not merely as a tribute, but as a deep emotional experience that brings her music to life in a modern context.

Far from being a simple revival, “Kalthoumiate” aims to immerse audiences in the emotional depth and cultural richness that defined the artistry of Oum Kalthoum. The production, under the direction of renowned conductor Hicham Telmoudi, will blend faithful interpretation with a refined contemporary sensibility. Egyptian soprano Marwa Naji, a former finalist on The Voice and a cultural ambassador in her own right, will lend her voice to these timeless songs. Her commanding stage presence and nuanced performances promise to channel the soul of Kalthoum’s music, balancing reverence for the past with a fresh artistic spirit.

The tour opens on Tuesday, May 6 at the Mohammed V Theater in Rabat, followed by a performance at the Palais des Arts et de la Culture in Tangier on Wednesday, May 7. Casablanca’s turn comes on Friday, May 9 at the Studio des Arts Vivants, and the tour concludes on Friday, May 16 with a grand finale at the Meydene Theater in Marrakech.

Tickets are available both online through Guichet.ma and Meydene.com, as well as at the venues themselves.

Meydene Productions, the creative force behind the Meydene Theater in Marrakech, has made it its mission to spotlight the great voices of the Arab world while preserving and promoting Morocco’s rich musical heritage. With 39 productions under its belt and nearly 15,000 audience members reached, the company continues to breathe new life into classic repertoire. “Kalthoumiate” stands as a powerful testament to this vision—a glowing, resonant celebration of musical memory and modern artistry.
