TotalEnergies Renewables Distributed Generation and Safran have taken a significant step in advancing Morocco’s energy transition by deploying solar power systems across five strategic Safran sites in the country. This landmark initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions while boosting the adoption of renewable energy solutions.
The newly installed photovoltaic systems are projected to generate 2,400 MWh of renewable energy annually, making them a cornerstone of Safran’s environmental strategy. This initiative not only significantly decreases the carbon footprint of Safran’s Moroccan operations but also underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable practices.
The installations span across key facilities, including Matis Aerospace, a joint venture between Safran Electrical & Power and Boeing, Safran Aircraft Engines Services Maroc, Safran Electronics & Defense, Safran Engineering Services Maroc, and Safran Aerosystems Maroc. This ambitious project is part of Safran’s global energy strategy, which aims to enhance energy efficiency and integrate renewable solutions across its operations worldwide.
With 2,600 solar panels installed, the systems will cover approximately 30 percent of the sites’ annual electricity needs. The environmental benefits are immense, with an expected annual reduction of 1,700 tons of CO₂, equivalent to planting 85,000 trees.
Hamady Sy, General Manager of TotalEnergies Renewables Distributed Generation for the Middle East and Africa, expressed the significance of this partnership, saying this collaboration with Safran demonstrates their commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable energy solutions to businesses in Morocco. He added that the company remains dedicated to supporting clients with solar technologies tailored to their needs. TotalEnergies managed the entire project, from design to installation and commissioning, ensuring long-term reliability and optimal performance of the systems.
This collaboration exemplifies the shared vision of two industrial leaders for sustainable development. Nathalie Stubler, Safran’s Group Director of Sustainable Development, emphasized that partnering with TotalEnergies strengthens their commitment to energy efficiency, particularly at their Moroccan sites. She highlighted that this initiative aligns perfectly with their global strategy to minimize their carbon footprint.
Safran’s investment in photovoltaic solutions highlights the strategic importance of its Moroccan operations in its broader sustainability agenda. At the same time, this project underscores Morocco’s growing reputation as a global leader in renewable energy, in line with its national goals for sustainable development.
By enhancing energy independence through solar power, Safran positions itself as a pioneer in green industry practices. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies solidifies its role as a key partner for businesses navigating the energy transition.
