Morocco’s tourism climbs 23% in early 2025, with 5.7M visitors and strong gains in overnight stays, led by Al Haouz, Fes, and Tangier.

Morocco is solidifying its reputation as a top global travel destination, kicking off 2025 with remarkable tourism growth. In February alone, the country welcomed nearly 1.4 million visitors—a staggering 22% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This surge translates to an additional 248,000 arrivals, driven by an 18% rise in foreign tourists and a notable 26% jump in Moroccan nationals residing abroad who chose to return for visits.

The upward trend is even more evident when looking at the first two months of the year. By the end of February, Morocco had already surpassed 2.7 million arrivals, marking an increase of 521,000 tourists over the previous year. This impressive performance is particularly strong in key source markets, reflecting the country’s growing appeal on the international stage.

Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, emphasized the significance of these numbers, highlighting Morocco’s standing among the world’s premier destinations. She also pointed out the tourism sector’s direct economic impact, from job creation to regional development. According to Ammor, this success stems from the strategic vision led by King Mohammed VI, whose policies continue to enhance Morocco’s attractiveness and strengthen its global position.
