Turkish companies are pushing to win a key Moroccan high-speed rail contract worth 500 million dirhams ($54.7m), part of the extension from Kenitra to Marrakech.
The tender, run by Morocco’s Office National des Chemins de Fer (ONCF), focuses on vital parts of the line, including communication networks and major engineering work. Winning this phase would give Turkish firms an advantage in future projects under Morocco’s Plan Rail 2040, which aims to connect the country all the way to Agadir.
Turkish exporters say they have the edge because Moroccan contractors already trust their machinery and materials, they have a proven track record on rail projects in Casablanca and Rabat, and they can meet tight deadlines ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The ONCF has set strict requirements, including a 7.5 million dirham ($829,000) guarantee and digital submission through the Moroccan Public Procurement Portal.
Bids must be submitted by 12 March 2026 at 10:00 AM.
