Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir is hosting the fifth edition of Science Week, an event that celebrates scientific progress and defends its role in a world increasingly challenged by outdated ideologies. More than just a series of conferences and workshops, this gathering serves as a platform where students, researchers, and industry leaders engage in discussions about the challenges and opportunities shaping the future.

From the very start, the tone is set. Following the opening speech by UM6P’s president, two students take the stage, one speaking in English and the other in Amazigh, embodying the diversity and freedom of expression that define this event. Under the theme “Shaping the Future,” the international scientific community is invited to explore the innovations and technological disruptions that are reshaping the world.

The conferences focus on strategic topics such as artificial intelligence, algorithmics, sustainable agriculture, agroecology, the impact of AI on medicine, new materials, and the industries of the future. Each subject highlights discoveries and advancements that will leave a lasting impact on society.

UM6P aims to make Science Week a driving force for African research by providing scientists from the continent with a space for exchange and collaboration with their international counterparts. Far from being confined to laboratories, Moroccan and African researchers engage with industry professionals to explore the practical applications of scientific discoveries, particularly in agriculture, healthcare, and architecture. The use of AI in predictive medicine, the therapies of tomorrow, and the automation of professions are among the most closely examined topics, along with innovations in agroecology and natural resource management.

By fostering debate and collaboration, Science Week at UM6P establishes itself as more than just an academic event. It stands as a catalyst for forward-thinking science, ensuring that Africa plays a leading role in global innovation.
