WAM Morocco: where AI, energy, and industry converge on African soil

From January 20 to 22, Casablanca will host over 60 global leaders in industry and advanced technology at the World Advanced Manufacturing & Future Mobility Exhibition (WAM Morocco), a major event expected to become one of the continent’s most influential industrial gatherings. With nearly 45 hours of expert-led sessions, the exhibition will explore the transformative shifts currently reshaping manufacturing and mobility worldwide.

For the first time in the region, top-tier voices from global institutions and multinational companies will take the stage. Among the headline speakers are Dr. Mehdi Snène, Chief AI Officer at the United Nations; Alain Sanchez, EMEA cybersecurity leader at Fortinet; Maxime de Bonrepos, head of renewable assets at ENGIE; Isaac Chetrit, a high-profile American investor managing several billion dollars in assets; and Pavlo Stergard, regional representative for Bpifrance.

Their participation signals a shift in perception: Morocco is no longer seen as a future promise but as a current hub of action. Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International-the Dubai-based organizer behind the event—emphasized that this level of global engagement marks a new chapter for the Kingdom’s role on the international industrial stage.

Each guest speaker brings heavyweight credentials. Dr. Snène currently leads Europe’s largest neuroscience research initiative, backed by over €1 billion. Sanchez steers cybersecurity for a company valued at $65 billion. De Bonrepos played a key role in the development of the UAE’s massive 1.5 GW Khazna solar park. Chetrit is a sought-after name in New York’s investment scene, and Stergard oversees part of Bpifrance’s €57 billion in assets.

Other prominent figures confirmed for the event include Fabrizio Lodovico of Vigel, Jorge Sebastião of Ecox, and Amine Sounni from Terabase Energy—collectively representing more than $10 billion in solar energy investments.

The agenda will focus on urgent and forward-looking themes such as artificial intelligence, supply chain resilience, renewable energy, digital transformation, and industrial sovereignty. Dr. Snène sees Morocco as fertile ground for the rise of an AI-driven manufacturing ecosystem. Meanwhile, Alain Sanchez warns that cybersecurity is now a core pillar of both industrial competitiveness and national sovereignty.

WAM Morocco is being organized by KAOUN International—a subsidiary of the Dubai World Trade Centre—in partnership with MSC Pro, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), Advantage Austria, and German SME representatives. Positioned as Africa’s leading platform for industry and logistics, the event is closely aligned with Morocco’s broader industrial strategy, which emphasizes sustainable, integrated, and sovereign production across the continent.
