Olympic Safi drew 1–1 with Wydad AC on Sunday in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final at the El Massira Stadium.

The match started with both teams trying to attack, but neither side could score in the first half.

Wydad took the lead in the 68th minute when Bolivian midfielder Gabriel Villamíl scored after a move that began with a pass from Walid Nassi.

Safi then pushed forward looking for an equaliser and found it late in the game. In the 86th minute, Salah-Eddine Rahouli scored with a low shot after the ball broke loose inside the penalty area.

Wydad thought they had scored again near the end, but the goal was ruled out after a VAR review for a foul earlier in the move.

The second leg will be played on 22 March at the Stade Mohammed V.

The winner will move on to the semi-finals.
