The Office National des Chemins de Fer (ONCF) has awarded the contract for the construction of the new Hay Riad train station in Rabat to the Société Générale des Travaux du Maroc (SGTM). The project, valued at 187 million dirhams, saw SGTM triumph over its competitor, Travaux Généraux de Construction de Casablanca (TGCC), which had submitted a bid of 200 million dirhams.

Designed as a bridge station, the Hay Riad station will connect Annakhil Avenue to Hassan II Avenue while serving the Moulay Abdellah sports complex. The station will feature three distinct levels:

  • Ground Floor: Spanning 4,500 square meters, the ground floor will be divided into two sections, one facing Annakhil Avenue and the other facing Hassan II Boulevard.
  • Mezzanine: Located on the Annakhil Avenue side, the mezzanine will cover an area of 200 square meters.
  • Upper Floor: Positioned above the railway tracks, this bridge-like floor will offer 2,300 square meters of space.

This state-of-the-art station, designed to accommodate local services, is expected to be operational before the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which Morocco is set to host.
