Boluda and Marsa Maroc join forces to enhance Nador West Med port capabilities

Marsa Maroc has joined forces with Boluda Towage France to create a new joint venture dedicated to providing tugboat services and port assistance at the strategically important Nador West Med port in northern Morocco.

With this partnership, Marsa Maroc, a key player in port operations across Morocco, is expanding its reach. Headquartered in Casablanca, the publicly traded company already has a strong presence in several Moroccan ports and operates abroad as well, notably in the Port of Cotonou in Benin. By entering the tugboat and maritime assistance sector, Marsa Maroc is broadening its portfolio beyond its core terminal operations.

Boluda Towage France, the French branch of Spain’s Boluda Corporación Marítima, brings its deep expertise in maritime services to the table. Operating out of Marseille, Boluda Towage France specializes in port, coastal, and offshore towing as well as maritime rescue operations. Its parent company, Boluda Corporación Marítima, is a global leader in the sector, managing a fleet of over 600 vessels and operating in 148 ports across 50 countries. This extensive experience makes Boluda a valuable partner for developing new maritime capabilities at Nador West Med.

The collaboration between the two companies is set to enhance the operational readiness of the Nador West Med port, which is seen as a critical infrastructure project for Morocco’s northern coastline. Tugboat services and maritime assistance are vital components for the smooth functioning of any major port, ensuring the safe docking and departure of ships of all sizes. This new joint venture aims to support the long-term growth and efficiency of the port, positioning Nador West Med as a key logistics hub in the region.
