Is Koto the next big thing in Morocco’s new car market?

Africar Group is continuing its rapid expansion across Africa with the acquisition of Koto.ci, a leading Ivorian platform specializing in new car pricing. This strategic move reinforces the group’s mission to build a fully integrated digital automotive ecosystem spanning the continent.

Already active in countries like Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, Senegal, Rwanda, and South Africa through its certified used car marketplace AUTO24.africa, Africar Group is now adding another key component to its offering. With Koto.ci joining the fold, the group aims to bring greater price transparency to the new car market—complementing its existing mix of classifieds, auto news platforms, and financial services.

Morocco plays a particularly strategic role in this broader rollout. The country already hosts AUTO24.ma, a go-to marketplace for used vehicles, as well as AutoActu.ma, an editorial platform covering the automotive sector. A local version of Koto is set to launch soon, giving Moroccan dealerships a dedicated digital space to list pricing information while enabling consumers to compare offers with increased confidence.

Koto.ci, founded by Abdessamad Misbah, has established itself in Côte d’Ivoire as an essential reference for car pricing. Now part of Africar Group, the platform is expected to expand across all of the group’s active markets, with Morocco serving as a key hub for this next phase of growth.

Africar Group now operates more than 70 platforms across 15 countries, attracting over 15 million users annually. It has firmly positioned itself as the leading digital automotive player in Africa. With the launch of EV24.africa, the group is also pushing forward the continent’s shift toward electric mobility. Koto will play a crucial role in this transition, offering reliable pricing for electric models and building consumer trust in a rapidly evolving market.

Headquartered in Australia and backed by global investors including Stellantis, Africar Group is making bold strides to reshape the African auto industry. Morocco, given its geographic position and role as a regional hub, remains central to the group’s long-term strategy.
