Abdellatif Jouahri, Governor of Bank Al-Maghrib, has once again been ranked among the world’s top central bankers, according to the 2025 edition of the “Central Banker Report Cards” published by U.S. magazine Global Finance.
Jouahri received the highest possible grade, an “A,” awarded to central bank leaders recognized for outstanding monetary policy management. With this distinction, Bank Al-Maghrib becomes the only institution in the Arab world to achieve such recognition in the ranking.
The annual report, first introduced in 1994, assesses central bank governors across 101 countries and regions, including the European Union, the Central Bank of West African States, and the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. Evaluations are based on criteria such as inflation control, monetary stability, interest rate management, and economic growth performance.
Global Finance explained that the 2025 results highlight leaders who demonstrated independence, discipline, and strategic foresight at a time when inflation remains a global concern. The impact of recent monetary tightening, often marked by rate hikes, is now becoming visible, the report noted.
Alongside Jouahri, several other central bankers also received top marks this year, including those from Chile, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Kenya, and Peru.
Founded in New York in 1987, Global Finance has become a leading financial publication, distributed in 185 countries and covering corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, currencies, and risk management.
