SOREC signs strategic deal with Hungary’s historic State Stud of Szilvásvárad

Morocco and Hungary are taking their long-standing equestrian relationship to the next level. The SOREC (Moroccan National Company for Horse Racing Development) has just signed a new cooperation agreement with Hungary’s State Stud of Szilvásvárad. The signing took place in El Jadida on the sidelines of the 16th edition of the Salon du Cheval, which runs from September 30 to October 5.

This new partnership is a natural progression of the collaboration already established between the two institutions over the past several years. It reflects a shared commitment to celebrating and preserving each country’s deep-rooted equestrian heritage. Both Morocco and Hungary boast rich traditions in horse breeding and equestrian culture, and this agreement aims to build on that common ground.

The framework agreement outlines several key areas of cooperation. One major focus is the joint promotion of iconic horse breeds such as the Barb, the Arab-Barb, and the Lipizzaner—breeds that hold historical and cultural significance in both nations. In addition to breed promotion, the deal also supports the development of joint projects in equine reproduction, applied research, and the advancement of carriage technologies and specialized equipment.

The agreement was officially signed by Omar Skalli, Director General of SOREC, and Dávid Cseri, Director of the State Stud of Szilvásvárad, marking a new chapter in the growing partnership between the two countries’ leading equine institutions.
