A major milestone was reached this week in Morocco’s Eastern Region as the Oujda Technopole Industrial Acceleration Zone welcomed a new global player. Hirschmann Automotive officially opened its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on Thursday, October 30, marking a significant step forward for the region’s industrial development.
The newly launched plant spans 2.2 hectares and represents a €16 million investment. Once fully operational, it’s expected to create around 700 direct jobs, strengthening the area’s appeal to international manufacturers and reinforcing its position as a growing industrial hub.
The inauguration ceremony brought together a host of high-profile figures, including the Wali of the Oriental Region, the President of the Regional Council, Hirschmann Automotive’s CEO, and numerous institutional and economic leaders. Their presence underlined the strategic importance of the project for both the region and Morocco’s broader industrial ambitions.
The launch of this facility reflects a growing confidence among Austrian investors in Morocco’s economic landscape—particularly in the underdeveloped yet increasingly promising Oriental region. Backed by the Oriental Regional Investment Center, the project is also a sign of deepening economic ties between Morocco and Austria, highlighting a shared commitment to long-term collaboration and mutual growth.
