The women’s Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in Morocco has been postponed from March to the summer.
The Confederation of African Football announced on Thursday that the tournament, originally due to run from 17 March to 3 April 2026, will now be held from 25 July to 16 August 2026.
In a statement, the body said the decision followed discussions with partners, including FIFA and other stakeholders. It said the rescheduling was intended to ensure the smooth delivery of the competition in light of unexpected circumstances.
The confederation added that preparations for the tournament are continuing.
Morocco is due to host the competition for the third time in a row, after staging the 2022 and 2024 editions. Organisers say the event remains a priority as they seek to strengthen women’s football across the continent and support the development of young players.
