The Jordan Football Association has named Moroccan coach Lamia Boumehdi as the new head coach of the country’s women’s national football team.
The announcement was made on Saturday in Amman. Boumehdi will be responsible for leading the team and helping improve the level of women’s football in Jordan.
Her role will go beyond coaching the senior team. She will also work as assistant to the technical director for women’s football and oversee all of Jordan’s women’s national teams as part of a plan to strengthen the sport in the country.
Boumehdi has built a strong reputation in African football. Between 2022 and 2025 she coached the women’s team of TP Mazembe in the Democratic Republic of Congo and worked with the club’s football academy. In 2025 she also became coach of the DR Congo women’s national team.
Before that, she worked with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation from 2016 to 2022, helping develop women’s football programmes and training for coaches.
During her career, Boumehdi has also coached youth national teams and briefly led the Morocco women’s national football team in 2020.
She holds several coaching qualifications recognised by the Confederation of African Football, including the CAF A licence, and also works as a lecturer for the organisation.
Boumehdi won the CAF Women’s Champions League with TP Mazembe in 2024. She was also named Africa’s best women’s football coach in 2024 and 2025 and was among the top three coaches on the continent in 2025.
