Damane Cash is partnering with Remitly to make it simpler for Moroccans living abroad to send money home.
Thanks to the deal, money sent through Remitly can now be picked up at any Damane Cash branch across Morocco. The service is faster and more secure, especially for people in areas where banks are few and far between.
The company says the partnership is part of its plan to support Moroccan families who rely on money from relatives abroad.
Money sent home by Moroccans abroad is a big part of Morocco’s economy, making up around 7 to 8 percent of GDP. It stays steady even when the global economy is shaky, helping millions of households.
Damane Cash is part of BMCE Capital (Bank of Africa Group) and has been expanding to reach more people, including in rural areas. By linking a digital platform like Remitly with its network of local branches, the company is connecting the online habits of people abroad with the cash needs of families back home.
The deal also makes sending money cheaper and faster. Funds are usually ready to pick up almost immediately, and everything is monitored by Bank Al-Maghrib to keep it safe and secure.
