Allianz Trade has named Francis Jespers as the new General Manager of its Morocco branch, starting 1 March. He takes over from Hicham Bensaid Alaoui, who is retiring after many years with the company.
Jespers has more than 30 years of experience at Allianz Trade, joining in 1990 as a commercial account manager. He has led the company in several European countries, including Belgium and the Netherlands, and managed operations in Central and Eastern Europe. Before moving to Morocco, he was Program Director for Northern Europe.
Luca Burrafato, CEO for Allianz Trade in the Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa, said Jespers’ experience and leadership make him the right choice to strengthen the company’s work in Morocco.
Allianz Trade, formerly known as Euler Hermes, is the world’s biggest trade credit insurance company. Morocco is a key market, acting as a gateway for European businesses looking to work in West and Sub-Saharan Africa. The country is considered low-risk for businesses not being paid, and its economy is expected to grow 3.7% in 2026, helped by industry growth and tourism.
The company made a net profit of 262 million MAD ($28.5 million) in 2025, recovering from a tough 2024. Its Moroccan operations, including general insurance, had revenue of 2.16 billion MAD ($234.8 million), up 12.3% from the year before.
