Moroccan startup Tripass says its airport transfer service WeTaxi has carried more than 2.1 million passengers as it tries to make airport taxis simpler and more reliable.
The service connects airports with city centres using fixed prices paid in advance. Travellers pay the fare shown at smart counters and kiosks inside the airport before getting into a vehicle.
Tripass says the system has ended fare disputes. The service has an average rating of 4.3 out of 5 and its tracking system has helped return 2,341 lost items to passengers.
For many visitors, a taxi ride is their first experience of Morocco. The company aims to remove uncertainty by setting clear prices and payment before the journey begins.
The prepaid system and digital tracking are designed to give travellers a predictable and smooth arrival.
Tripass says the platform also supports drivers. Partner drivers receive a digital wallet to manage earnings and access banking services. Drivers use an app to manage rides in real time and improve working hours and income. A support programme helps them learn how to use the tools.
Abid Khirani, co-founder of Tripass, said: “With WeTaxi, we are restoring dignity and modern management tools to taxi drivers. This rating of 4.3/5 belongs above all to them, and proves that technology, when inclusive, is a powerful driver of social and economic progress.”
The launch comes as Morocco moves ahead with its Digital Morocco 2030 strategy and prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Airport taxis have long relied on cash payments and negotiated fares, especially among Grand Taxi services.
Tripass is building more digital services for travellers and plans to expand across major transport hubs in the coming months.
