Moroccan telecom operator inwi has launched a new Startup Gamification Challenge in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication and Morocco Gaming Industry.

The programme invites Moroccan startups and game developers to design new game-like features for inwi’s win by inwi mobile app. The goal is to make the app more engaging and interactive using simple game mechanics.

Officials say the initiative is part of efforts to grow Morocco’s gaming and digital industry.

Key dates

Applications are open until 20 April. Selected startups will join a hands-on workshop starting 27 April, where they will improve their ideas with expert help.

The final competition will take place on 24 May at the Morocco Gaming Expo 2026.

Prize and support

The winning startup will receive 100,000 dirhams. They will also get support to build a working version of their idea that could be added to the win by inwi app.

If successful, the idea could later be used across other inwi services, including the main My inwi app.

Wider goals

The programme is linked to Morocco’s wider plan to grow its gaming sector and support young tech companies.

The ministry says it wants to help promising startups develop their ideas and connect them to international markets.

Winners may also get the chance to take part in Gamescom, one of the world’s biggest gaming events.

Bigger digital push

The challenge is part of a wider inwi strategy that includes its win by inwi app, the Dir iddik platform for social projects, and its innovation programme inwi innov.

The Centre Cinématographique Marocain has also encouraged closer cooperation between the film and gaming sectors, especially in storytelling and digital production.

Officials say these efforts are part of a broader plan to grow Morocco’s digital economy and support new tech businesses.
