DS Automobiles has unveiled a new compact sedan called the N°4 for drivers who want something stylish, comfortable and packed with modern tech.
The new model comes with two engine options. One is a hybrid with 145 horsepower. It pairs a 1.2 litre petrol engine with an electric motor and can run on electric power for up to 50% of city driving. It produces 230 Nm of torque and starts at 116 grams of CO₂ per kilometre. The second option is a 130-horsepower diesel, with emissions between 137 and 139 grams of CO₂ per kilometre.
A sharper look on the road
The N°4 has a completely new front design inspired by a concept car. It features a wider black grille and slim lights that stretch across the front and meet at a glowing DS badge.
The car is 4.40 metres long, 1.87 metres wide and 1.47 metres high. It has a low, sporty shape with flush door handles and an optional black roof that appears to float. At the back, LED lights with fine detailing are linked by a glossy black strip.
Inside focuses on comfort and screens
Inside, the focus is on a clean, high tech layout. Drivers get a 10.25 inch digital display behind the wheel and a 10 inch touchscreen in the centre. There is also a head up display that projects key driving information onto the windscreen so you do not need to look down.
The cabin uses detailed finishes inspired by French craftsmanship, including patterned metal surfaces and fine stitching. Buyers can also choose a 14 speaker Focal sound system with 690 watts of power. The boot offers 390 litres of space and can be opened hands free.
Assisted driving and safety
The N°4 includes Level 2 driver assistance through DS Drive Assist 2.0. This means the car can help with lane changes, overtaking and adjusting speed based on road signs.
A camera watches the driver to detect signs of fatigue. The headlights can also adjust automatically and reach up to 300 metres without dazzling other drivers.
Three versions available
The car will be offered in three trims.
Performance Line is the sportier option with black styling details and Alcantara seats.
Pallas focuses on comfort with heated seats and extra interior features.
Étoile is the top version with Nappa leather seats, massage functions and more advanced safety tech.
Built on a long history
Citroën DS first made its debut in 1955 and became famous for its design and smooth suspension.
The DS name returned in 2009 under PSA Group before becoming a standalone brand in 2014. It is now part of Stellantis.
Moving towards electric cars
DS is pushing further into electric and hybrid models, helped by its involvement in Formula E racing.
Its current range includes the DS 3, the larger N°7 SUV with hybrid and electric options, and the N°8 electric flagship, which can travel up to 750 kilometres on a single charge.
