A global agrochemical company has set up a new base in Morocco. Rainbow Agro said it has opened a regional hub in Mohammedia. The office will manage its business across Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya.
The company is pursuing global expansion with a local purpose and wants to work more closely with local partners to offer products suited to the region.
Rainbow Agro is a China-based firm and one of the world’s biggest crop protection companies. It operates in more than 100 countries and makes products like herbicides, fungicides and insecticides to protect crops and improve yields.
It has been expanding quickly and investing in research. Earlier this year, it opened a new centre focused on more sustainable and eco-friendly farming solutions.
Mohammedia was chosen for practical reasons. It sits between Casablanca and Rabat and has strong port and road links.
Farmers in North Africa are dealing with drought and extreme heat. Rainbow Agro’s products are designed to help crops survive these conditions and protect harvests.
