Pharmaceutical company Sothema grew its sales by 19% in the second quarter of 2026, helped by strong demand for its cancer and cardio-metabolic medicines, growth in Senegal and the integration of Soludia.

Second-quarter revenue reached MAD 917 million, up from MAD 767 million a year earlier.

Sales for the first six months of the year rose 16% to MAD 1.795 billion, compared with MAD 1.549 billion in the same period of 2025.

Three new medicines were launched in Morocco during the first half of the year.

The company received 37 marketing approvals, including 19 in Morocco and 18 in international markets. It also filed 23 applications, with 12 submitted outside Morocco.

Investment spending increased to MAD 111 million in the first six months of 2026, up from MAD 28 million a year earlier.

The money went into expanding production capacity and buying the rights to the Cialis brand and related products in Morocco.

Net debt fell to MAD 681 million at the end of June, down MAD 152 million, or 18%, from the end of December 2025.

Sothema also created Sothema International during the second quarter to lead its regional expansion.

The company completed a five-for-one stock split on May 5 to improve share liquidity and make its stock more accessible to investors on the Casablanca Stock Exchange.

Founded in 1976, Sothema is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

The company makes, sells and exports medicines, food supplements and medical devices in 13 dosage forms from its 60,000-square-metre manufacturing site in Bouskoura.

Its business is built around four main activities: licensed manufacturing for about 35 international pharmaceutical companies, branded generic and biosimilar medicines, contract manufacturing for other laboratories, and exports to Sub-Saharan Africa, the Maghreb, the Middle East and Europe.

Its product range includes cancer medicines, cardio-metabolic and diabetes treatments, antibiotics, anti-infectives, hospital injectables and intravenous serums.

The company’s automated sterile production lines can make up to 60 million injectable units each year.

Growth in the first half of 2026 was supported by its core oncology and cardio-metabolic business, stronger sales from its Senegal operations and the integration of Soludia, which joined the group in December 2025.
