People are being targeted by fake investment offers using CDG Capital’s name and logo. The fake posts are spreading on social media. They advertise a supposed “free stock market training” and ask users to click on links to register or apply.

CDG Capital has confirmed that the offers are fake. The company has no connection to the accounts, pages, people or organisations behind them.

The company has urged people to be careful and avoid clicking on suspicious links.

The scam is part of a wider rise in fake investment offers on social media. Fraudsters often copy the logos and names of banks and financial companies to make their offers look real. They may then ask people for personal information, banking details or money.

CDG Capital is the investment banking and asset management arm of the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG) Group.

Its businesses include asset management, stockbroking, investment banking, financial advice and private equity.

CDG Capital Gestion manages money-market, bond and equity funds for institutional and corporate clients.

The wider CDG Group has a balance sheet of about 355.5bn dirhams. It manages about 144bn dirhams in assets for third parties and has around 157bn dirhams in deposits, according to the figures provided.

CDG Capital is also investing in stronger digital security. The company plans to set up a dedicated Security Operations Center to help protect its systems from cyberattacks, phishing and attempts to copy its brand.

CDG Capital’s warning comes as other financial institutions have also raised concerns about fake investment schemes and forged documents.

People who see the fake training offers should not click on the links or share personal or financial information.

Using a company’s name and identity for an online scam can lead to criminal charges under Moroccan law. Possible offences include fraud, cybercrime, illegal collection of personal data and trademark infringement.

The penalties depend on the offence and the circumstances of each case.
