Talisman Metals has reported copper and silver mineralisation in four drill holes at its Tirzzit exploration project, 225km east of Agadir, Morocco. The London-listed mining company said that one hole intersected two metres of mineralisation containing 1.56% copper and 64 grams of silver per tonne, starting at a depth of eight metres.

The results provide the first subsurface confirmation of mineral indications identified during earlier surface exploration campaigns.

Three other drill holes also intersected copper, although grades and thicknesses varied. One returned 10 metres at 0.31% copper, including a one-metre section grading 2.08%.

Tim McCutcheon, Talisman’s chief executive, said the results “confirm the existence and location of copper-bearing sedimentary layers”.

He said further drilling could identify thicker mineralised zones within folds in the geological formations. The company said this possibility was based on comparable deposits in the region and would need to be confirmed by further exploration.

Talisman’s initial Tirzzit project covers 16.5 sq km across two mining titles acquired from a subsidiary of Canadian mining group Aya Gold & Silver. The company announced the acquisition on 16 February 2026, but the administrative transfer of the titles is still under way.

In September, Talisman announced three additional exploration permits covering a further 47 sq km. The permits, issued by mining authorities in Agadir, are valid until 24 July 2029, bringing the project’s total area to 63.5 sq km.

The company plans to continue geological mapping, rock sampling and geophysical surveys to identify potential copper and silver deposits at greater depths.

Tirzzit lies in a geological setting comparable to that of the Tizert copper and silver mine, about 85km to the south-west. However, the similarity does not establish that Tirzzit contains comparable mineral resources.

Historical exploration conducted between 1972 and 1976 recorded copper grades of up to 3.16% over 2.5 metres. Talisman said those results had not been sufficiently verified under current reporting standards and could not be included in a certified resource estimate.

The company expects to complete work on its selected exploration targets within four to six weeks and publish further assay results in the fourth quarter of 2026.
