Tourism in Morocco has surged, with more than 5.9 million arrivals recorded by the end of May 2024. This marks a 15% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social Economy.
In May alone, tourism in Morocco continued its remarkable upward trend with over 1.3 million arrivals at border crossings, marking an 18% year-over-year increase. The ministry highlighted the pivotal role of international tourists in this growth, with a 17% increase, making up 56% of total arrivals.
Moroccan expatriates also contributed to this growth, showing a 13% rise in arrivals. “Adding 772,000 tourists in just five months is an exceptional achievement for our sector. We are proud of the progress made over the past 30 months in collaboration with professionals and our partners,” said Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social Economy, in the statement.
“As we enter the summer season, all promotional, airline, and hospitality plans have been carefully set up to ensure an exceptional experience for our visitors. The tourism momentum continues, and we approach the future with confidence and determination,” she added.
