The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has announced the election of five new members to its executive board. Among these new appointees is Moulay Hafid Elalamy, the founder of Saham Group, who makes history as the first Moroccan to join this esteemed panel.
The ICC’s executive board consists of 27 members. The five newly elected members, who will serve a three-year term starting June 11, 2024, are:
- Jitka Haubova, Board Member and Chief Operating Officer at Komercni Banka (Czech Republic)
- Marcelo Elizondo, President, ICC Argentina
- Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Founder, Saham Group (Morocco)
- Mark Nowitz, Leading Entrepreneur and Director of the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (South Africa)
- Zhang Xiaolun, President, China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach) (China)
Additionally, Marienne Coutinho, Partner at KPMG (Brazil), has been confirmed for a second term as a board member, as per an ICC statement.
The board is responsible for formulating and implementing ICC’s strategy, policies, and action programs, as well as overseeing its financial affairs.
Furthermore, the ICC World Council has ratified the election of Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of ICC Turkey and Chairman of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), as President of the ICC World Chambers Federation (WCF).
